Location, Location, Location
The Hudson River eagle count today = 75 at low tide. Croton Boat Ramp, George’s Island and Verplanck, Charles Point are the places to be. Our red-tail is getting ready to go to nest.

Snowbound
Large numbers of eagles remain on the Lower Hudson River. My view this week was from a distance, except for first grade eagle watching on Tuesday. Also, please take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count. You can go to a nearby park that has a feeder and just count for 15 minutes.

Eagle Heaven on Hudson
There have been at least 15 eagles hunting at the Croton Boat Ramp the last two days. The Croton River started moving again. Verplanck marinas sported another 15-20 fishing and perching relatively close. Thursday night’s eagle count from the dock in Verplanck came in at 15. Just at dusk an immature caught a fish…

Fish Fight on the Hudson
While making my eagle rounds on the Hudson River, I passed by Charlie and Karolyn who told me to get to Annsville Paddlesport Park quick. You can imagine what had happened previously. This adult beat out 6 to 8 other eagles for a few minutes anyway.

Eagles Galore! Plus a Few Other Regulars
As soon as the crushing ice formed on the Hudson River and the rivers to the north, east, west and south, our migrant eagles joined us at the Croton Point Nature Center. Eagle watchers reported up to 44 eagles on the river.

Eagle Report
Four or more eagles were perched on the tree on the island in between Cortlandt Yacht Club (private) and Viking Marina. Six eagles, three adults and three immatures, perched on their tree above the train tunnel at Oscawana Island, visible from Furnace Dock Road. They flew off and around, but someone had my parking spot.
